The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a world leading youth charity which gives all 14-24 year olds the chance to develop skills for life and work. We engage, inspire and empower over 300,000 young people a year across the UK and from every possible background.

The DofE Award is a game-changer. We know that perseverance and passion for long-term goals is linked to success in education, life and work. Our structured programme of volunteering, physical and skills based challenges inspire, guide and support young people to achieve.

We believe that anything is possible and the possibilities are endless. The positive effects of the DofE are proven and far-reaching. Communities are enriched with passionate and driven volunteers, businesses benefit from work-ready, competent recruits and young people are given the confidence to shine.

We are looking for a new Centre Co-ordinator to join our South East Regional Office.

This is an exciting time to be joining The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in the South East Region. We have seen a 3% increase in participation over the past year with a 7% increase in the number of participants achieving Awards. We are proud of the impact we’re making locally. However, there are still many young people who cannot access DofE and there are areas in the South East where DofE is under-represented. We want to do more to address this lack of opportunity and equity for young people and to close the achievement
gap in those areas. We want to give all young people the opportunity to develop their potential.

That’s the reason we’re so thrilled to be launching our ‘Boosting Participation’ Project which will help us to demonstrate where there is demand for the DofE and to build delivery from the ground up across several locations. We are seeking a dynamic Centre Coordinator who will be the key driver of this project across sites in Kent and East Sussex.

The Centre Co-ordinator is a direct delivery role. The postholder will work in a set of Licensed Organisations (LOs) in Kent and East Sussex where the DofE is currently under-represented. They will work with each LO to set up a robust and sustainable delivery model, to engage and train a strong Leader base, and to launch and deliver DofE programmes to participants. The objectives are to extend the reach of the DofE, to demonstrate demand in partner LOs, to build sustainable delivery models to enable the LOs to meet demand, and to identify barriers to enrolment.

Please visit the DofE website for full details.

If you think you have the desired skills and experience then please apply online.

The closing date for all applications is Sunday 22nd September 2019 at midnight.

First interviews will take place on Friday 27th September 2019 at Summit House in Gillingham.

All DofE staff support the charity’s Mission, Vision and Values;

Our Mission is to inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements.

Our Vision is to reach more young people from diverse backgrounds and equip them as individuals to succeed in life.
