Our 3,500 staff provide services to 4.7m people across Kent, Surrey, Sussex and North East Hampshire. We handle over 1 million calls to 999 and 1 million calls to NHS 111 every year.

The SECAmb 111 service is currently expanding, and we need dedicated and passionate Call Handlers to join our team in our 111 Contact Centre in Ashford, Kent.

• Do you have excellent communication skills, and a passion to work for the NHS?
• Are you caring, empathetic and want to help and make a real difference to people’s lives?
• Are you confident on the phone and willing to train to be able to provide guidance to patients in a calm and logical way?
• Do you want to work in a warm, friendly environment where your colleagues and managers care and want to make a difference?

If your answer is YES to the questions above, then working for SECAmb as a 111 Health Advisor (Call Handler) could be the role for you!

As a 111 Call Handler (Health Advisor) you will be answering telephone calls directly from the public and health care professionals, directing the caller to the most suitable service to meet their needs. This may include escalating certain patient calls to our Clinical Advisors and/or dispatching an ambulance in the case of an emergency or referring patients on to other available services.

Successful applicants will demonstrate high levels of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient focused service.
You must possess excellent communication skills, be customer focused and be competent with IT, as you will be entering important data into our e-based communication call handling systems.

Successful candidates must possess GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent qualifications) at Grade C or above (2018 Grade 4).

If you’re seeking a new challenge and are flexible in your working hours which will include: days, evenings, weekends, nights and bank holidays, then this could be the opportunity for you.

We offer excellent training and career development opportunities for our Health Advisors, a generous NHS pension and competitive pay framework for you to progress through, and the opportunity to be part of a supportive, innovative and very well-respected NHS 111 Contact Centre team.

We can offer full or part time hours - between 15 - 37.5 hours per week.

If you are successful, you will complete our 6 week comprehensive NHS Pathways training, whether you are applying for a full time or part time position.
Training weeks 1 - 3 will be working Saturday & Sunday – 9-5pm, Wednesday and Thursday 2-10pm and Friday 12-8pm, week 4 will be various shadow shifts and then weeks 5 and 6 will be back to Saturday & Sunday – 9-5pm, Wednesday and Thursday 2-10pm and Friday 12-8pm.
