Senior Health and Safety Advisor – Broadstairs - £Competitive

Our client is a global industry leader in their field based in Broadstairs and is looking for an expert in Health & Safety to join their award-winning team.

The role

Reporting to the Operations Director, you will lead a small team providing help, advice and clear guidance on safety and health matters at all levels of the business, ensuring continual legal compliance.

The H & S Advisor will provide:

·Help, expert advice and clear guidance on all aspects of occupational safety and health matters at all levels within the business.

·You will ensure the company’s continued compliance with all legislative requirements, with a focus on developing the H & S Hazard and Risk Assessment systems and documentation.

·You will advise on adequate safeguards and controls to ensure all risks are reduced to as low as reasonably practicable.

·You will liaise and lead discussions with the Competent Authorities including the HSE and local government. This will include monitoring and maintaining H & S Key Performance Indicators.

·The advisor will be responsible for ensuring our continued compliance to the COMAH regulations and developing our H & S strategy.

·Managing accident investigation, incident reporting and root-cause analysis, you will ensure robust remedial actions are implemented.

·Internal consultation, audits, safety inspections and management of change procedures are also key to ensuring that our H & S performance continuously improves year on year.

The candidate

You should have a minimum of a NEBOSH certificate with the diploma being preferable and have a minimum of 5 years H&S experience gained in a high hazard, chemical or COMAH based manufacturing site. Knowledge of DSEAR and Atex requirements would be of benefit.

Your experience should include working with the HSE, Local Authority, Certification bodies and Consultants and be familiar with the H & S Management System OHSAS 18001 and audit techniques.

Excellent communication skills with proven report writing and presentation skills along with effective data collection and analysis capabilities is desirable.
