SENIOR LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

£19,220 - £21,220 (Actual term time only salary)

Permanent position

38.5 hours per week. Term-time only* (38 weeks per year plus 5 days training totalling 39 weeks per year)

*In addition, you will be required to commit to an additional two weeks work during short term break periods if required, for which additional payment will be made.

Bradstow is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 & 19. It is situated in 13 acres of parkland in Broadstairs, Kent. We seek to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties with associated behaviours that may be challenging using a Gentle Teach approach and engaging in reflective practice. We have achieved national recognition for our developments in Communication and Behaviour Management as well as having been awarded the Gold standard for the Investors in People accreditation.

This role involves acting as a prime support for the teacher in a class group. When the teacher is present in the class they will work collaboratively together to support the children and young people, the staff team and the class environment.

In the planned absence of a teacher, leading and managing the class directing the implementation of schedules and person centred support plans for the young people.

In the unplanned short or long term absence of the teacher the SLSA will also be required to design and implement daily programmes and schedules under the direction of the Head of Department.

The post holder will have responsibility for a designated specialist area including delivering training and support to other education staff or induction. They will have specialist knowledge in particular areas, assist in the whole planning cycle and the management and preparation of resources, and to also provide cover for whole classes for short periods under an agreed period of supervision.
