Process Plant Services are looking for an Operations Manager with experience in the manufacturing industry to join their team in Chatham, Kent.

We are a small welding/metal fabrication company that has been established for over 35 years.

You would be joining a small team in a challenging and creative environment, assisting with the day-to-day management of the team and production processes. You would be involved in all levels of the production process, from quoting, designing to end product. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to bring a fresh outlook to the team, who has the ability to grow and develop through the company. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills on the job and bring new ideas to the company.

Experience/Skills:
• Experience in a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience of leading and managing a team would be preferable
• Knowledge of the welding/fabrication process would be highly beneficial
• Experience of using 2D CAD, Draftsight or AutoCAD is essential
• Experience of using MS Outlook
• The ability to learn and adapt quickly
• A willingness to take on high levels of responsibility
• Sound attention to detail to ensure a high standard of work is produced
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced and pressured environment
• Ability to maintain client relationships

Responsibilities/Key tasks would include:
• Daily communication with customers, suppliers and the wider team
• Dealing with customers both face to face and over the phone
• Liaising with customers to understand and analyse the detailed project requirements, in order to produce quotes and design and produce production drawings for customer approval and final sign off for manufacture to begin
• Preparing estimates and quotations for existing and potential customers
• Generating a bill of materials for each project
• Purchasing all required materials ahead of scheduled production
• Creating workshop packages
• Scheduling work to be manufactured
• Ensuring that all parts are fabricated and completed in the most cost-effective manner using the materials and labour, with as little waste as possible
• Quality control to ensure that customers’ requirements are met and are to a high standard
• Ensuring that time timesheets are filled out correctly
• Logging billable hours to the relevant jobs for review and invoicing

Job Type: Full time/Permanent (with an initial 3 month probation period)
Salary: Negotiable
