Job Title: Accounts Assistant – 1 year fixed term contract with possibility to extend subject to funding
Responsible To: Finance Manager - Krystyna Sycamore
Location: Based in Whitstable with occasional travel to other projects in Kent.
Job Purpose: To assist with day to day delivery of financial obligations
Hours: Part Time – 3 days per week – days worked to be agreed by line manager or full time with other general administration duties built into the role.
Annual salary: £20,000 pro rata if part time Mileage at 40p per mile
Annual leave: 25 days per annum, plus Bank Holidays (pro rata if part time)

You must have excellent communication skills, with the ability to talk to people on any level in a variety of settings.

More about the role:

The ideal candidate will have a finance or accounts background including bookkeeping experience, within a public or professional service based environment. Strong numeric and administrative skills and attention to detail are essential, together with competency on databases and Excel and good time-management ability. This is a very good opportunity to develop an interesting new position and make it your own.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists Finance Officer in day-to-day financial tasks
• Assists in processing of Suppliers invoices and payments
• Maintains stock lists and orders office supplies as needed
• Assists in Customer invoicing
• Processing staff expenses
• Maintains accurate records for employee holiday requests
• Manages outgoing post and records data on special deliveries
• Photocopies and files appropriate documents as needed
• Office Petty Cash control

Accounts Assistant skills and qualifications:

• Intermediate knowledge of IT is essential - word, spreadsheet and PowerPoint
• Experience and proficiency in using accounting software – preferably QuickBooks and experience of working in an equivalent role
• Be a friendly and team player with a positive problem solving creative mind
• Be organised and methodical at all times, working from your own initiative - this is a busy demanding office environment
• Ability to prioritise your time and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work without Supervision
• Excellent Time Management Skills
• Exceptional Communication and Customer Service Skills
• Confidential Information
• Strong record keeping
• Ability to Multitask
