Drewery House is located next to our residential home Rogers House in the residential area of Wigmore, Gillingham and provides the right balance of support to enable residents to maintain their independence and continue living their lives to the full.

Drewery House is in an ideal location, close to local amenities including convenience shops, food outlets, health clinic, doctor surgery and a Post Office: it has good transport links (there is a bus stop within close proximity to the home) and Hempstead Valley shopping centre is just a short drive away.

Applications from people who would like to join the dedicated team of staff at Drewery House are always welcome.

This service has a vacancy for a Bank Housekeeper. The main duties and responsibilities are to prepare and cook two meals a day for the people who live there; other responsibilities include maintaining the cleanliness and presentability of all areas of the homes and promoting the wellbeing and respect the dignity of individual residents.

Rotas and exact working times will be given at interview.

The ideal Housekeeper will demonstrate

o A caring and compassionate approach
o Patience and understanding of older people
o Good catering skills
o Knowledge of or a willingness to be trained in the correct procedures for carrying out all of their duties including use of equipment
o Awareness of cultural needs of individuals
o Current knowledge of HandS legislation and application of HandS practices with particular regard to cleaning equipment
o Knowledge and understanding of COSHH regulations
o Good communication skills with different groups, e.g. staff, residents, local community
o Understanding of different values / cultures of residents and staff
o Team working skills
o Good timekeeping skills
o Professionalism


The ideal Housekepeer will have the ability to:

o Play an active role in creating a good environment
o Prioritise their work
o Carry out risk assessments
o Be aware of the support needed by others, consider how they can support them and encourage and support them
o Train for and take on additional responsibilities
o Listen carefully and attentively
o Respect the dignity and privacy of all those they come into contact with
o Apply their knowledge and training in the workplace
o Report any significant findings or exceptions to their line manager
o Uphold the policies and procedures of The Organisation
