Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding electrical contracting business.

We specialise in the delivery of electrical works associated with LV, HV and EHV cable jointing, including all associated fitting works across these sectors.

The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of DNO networks, electrical infrastructure and the wider electrical contracting industry. They will have proven experience in preparing accurate cost estimates, submitting Applications for Payment (AFPs), compiling costs for invoicing, managing variations and monitoring project costs and profitability.

Working closely with our operations team, the successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management and financial performance of our projects. Administrative support will be available as required, enabling them to focus on estimating, cost control and the effective commercial delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Preparing detailed and competitive estimates for delivery of cable jointing and terminations associated with electrical contracting and infrastructure projects.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation.
- Producing accurate labour estimates and cost breakdowns.
- Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Preparing and submitting Applications for Payment (AFPs) in accordance with contractual requirements and payment
- Preparing and compiling project costs for invoicing, ensuring all completed works, materials and agreed variations are accurately accounted for.
- Monitoring project costs, budgets and expenditure against tender allowances.
- Managing variations, valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Liaising with clients, project managers, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors on commercial matters.
- Tracking project progress to ensure completed works are captured and invoiced promptly.
- Identifying potential commercial risks, cost savings and opportunities to improve project profitability.
- Ensuring tenders, applications for payment and invoicing information are accurate and submitted within deadlines.

Essential:

- Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator, Quantity Surveyor in our sector, or in a similar commercial role within the electrical contracting industry.
- Good knowledge and understanding of DNO networks and electrical infrastructure works.
- Experience preparing estimates, valuations and applications for payment.
- Understanding of project cost control, invoicing and commercial reporting.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong numerical, organisational and analytical skills.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Desirable Experience:

- Experience working on DNO-related projects, including electrical infrastructure, network connections and associated installation works.
- Knowledge of contestable and non-contestable electrical works.
- Experience preparing final accounts and managing contractual variations.
- Relevant electrical, construction or commercial qualifications.
