Mechanical Engineer:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our client's team. The successful candidate will utilize standard manual workshop machines to produce components based on supplied drawings and assemble engine rigs for in-house testing.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Design and manufacture fabricated components using Gas, MIG, TIG, plasma cutting, sheet cutter, and bending equipment.
* Strip, rebuild, and modify prototype diesel engines.
* Adhere to company policies, standards, and procedures, including those related to safety, quality, and the environment.
* Follow department work requests and provide clear status updates on task progress and workload.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions.
* Perform engineering tasks using manually operated machines and hand tools.
* Utilize a variety of measuring equipment.
* Conduct front-line maintenance and basic fault diagnosis on equipment within the limits of your training.
* Fit various fuel injection equipment to engines, including pumps, injectors, low-pressure fuel systems, and high-pressure common rail systems.
Skills & Competencies
Mandatory:
* Proficiency in understanding engineering drawings and specifications.
* Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
* Expertise in various manufacturing and assembly techniques.
* Ability to use diverse measuring techniques and equipment.
Desirable:
* Familiarity with CAD models/SolidWorks or similar software.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to use and program CNC machining centers.
Experience & Qualifications
Mandatory:
* Apprenticeship or experience in an engineering-related discipline (Mechanical, Software, Electronics, etc.).
* Educated to BTEC Level 3 / NVQ Level 3, HNC, or another relevant engineering qualification.
* Strong understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Highly motivated to achieve company objectives.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
Desirable:
* Experience with GibbsCAM CAD/CAM software or similar for programming CNC machine tools.
* Experience in manufacturing to high precision tolerances.
* Experience in data collection for product/component qualification as part of a quality system.
