Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

• Location: Rochester
• Job Type: Temporary, full-time (opportunity to go permanent)
• Salary: £18 p/h

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our client’s team on a temporary basis with an opportunity to go permanent. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Planned Maintenance schedules, undertaking corrective and reactive work, and driving improvement projects to increase plant reliability and reduce costs.

Day to Day of the Role:
• Complete Planned Maintenance inspections as defined by site maintenance plans safely and effectively.
• Plan and deliver corrective and reactive work, ensuring minimal production downtime and maintaining high safety standards.
• Modify and improve plant and equipment to maximise availability and performance.
• Maintain shift paperwork, condition reports, and other documentation as required.
• Assess malfunctioning equipment and provide advice to influence decision-making.
• Undertake engineering project work and assist with new installations or refurbishments.
• Update and administer the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).


Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Awareness of Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.
• Good understanding of proactive maintenance strategies and condition monitoring.
• Understanding of safe systems of work, including plant isolations and safety systems.
• Excellent communication, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
• Completed apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3) in an appropriate engineering discipline.
• Experience in a processing, manufacturing, or similar environment.
• ONC / HNC / City & Guilds or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Full UK driving licence.
