We are working alongside Ashford Borough Council and have a temporary requirement for a Housing Options Officer on a temporary basis to work up until the end of March 2024.

The role will be working with rough sleepers in the area, and you will coordinate rough sleeper and homelessness services for single people within the area, working closely with key partners and stakeholders to reduce and ultimately eliminate rough sleeping in Ashford.

The role is extremely varied and will have some of the following requirements;

* Assess the needs of the individual rough sleeper and provide them with a variety of options of support services and information.
* Undertake outreach worker for rough sleepers in the area when identified.
* Carry out a formal assessment of each applicant's vulnerability and identity and necessary support needs and liaising with health, social services and voluntary agencies.
* Maintain case records.
* Advocate on behalf of the rough sleeper where appropriate and necessary.
* Identify and make arrangements for temporary suitable accommodation.
* Prepare committee reports and attend conferences and seminars when required

You must have current knowledge of homelessness legislation and have the ability to network and build strong working relationships with a wide range of groups and individuals. Strong communication and organisation skills are essential for this role as is the ability to overcome obstacles and find solutions to difficult situations.

You will be working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday and will need to be flexible on the hours you can work.

It is essential that you have a driving licence and access to e vehicle.

The role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
