Cobb & Jones Recruitment are working in partnership with a dynamic and well-established services business near Maidstone in the recruitment of a Purchase Ledger Clerk.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous purchase ledger experience to join a team orientated business, offering a flexible working environment. The business is offering the role on a FULL TIME or PART TIME basis for the right candidate.

As Purchase Ledger Clerk, you will be responsible for efficiently and accurately processing supplier invoices, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions related to accounts payable. This role plays a vital part in the smooth operation of the finance department. Key Responsibilities will include:

Invoice Processing
• Receive, verify, and process supplier invoices for payment.
• Ensure that invoices are correctly coded, authorised, and matched with purchase orders or delivery receipts.
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues with invoices.

Payment Processing
• Prepare and process payment runs, including checks, electronic transfers, and other payment methods.
• Ensure that payments are made on time while taking advantage of early payment discounts when applicable.

Supplier Relations
• Communicate with suppliers regarding invoice inquiries, discrepancies, and payment-related matters.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with suppliers.

Record Keeping
• Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical records of all purchase ledger transactions.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.

Expense Reports
• Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Verify receipts and supporting documentation.

Continuous Improvement
• Suggest and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in the purchase ledger function.

Candidates will possess the following skills and experience:
• Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar role is preferred.
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
