Your new company
Distribution and Logistics business based in East Kent looking for a new qualified financial accountant to join their teams. They will be responsible for producing high quality analysis and reporting to key stakeholders within the business.

Your new role

* Overseeing the preparation of the monthly management accounts and reporting on variances to budget and forecasting.
* Ensure monthly deadlines for flash P&L and board report are met and look for ways to streamline and improve on timelines.
* Take ownership of month-end sales, stock and margin reconciliation; getting into the detail, posting journals, investigating discrepancies, etc. The ability to identify and resolve complex issues is a must.
* Ownership of the balance sheet. Preparing monthly working papers for each entity and ensuring all balances are reconciled, and any issues flagged to senior management.
* Oversee preparation of weekly sales reports and statistics to agreed deadlines, and comment on company performance.
* Responsible for all company quarterly VAT returns and submission to HMRC.
* Key point of contact for year-end audit work.
* Develop and nurture a talented team of 2 assistant accountants.
* Attend and represent finance in interdepartmental manager team meetings.
* Approve payments as and when necessary.
* Act as a port of call for other members in the department if guidance is required.
* Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.

What you'll need to succeed

* ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified.
* 3-5 years previous experience in a similar role managing large volumes of data and providing in depth analysis.
* Proficient in both management and financial accounting.
* Team management experience a distinct advantage.
* Retail/FMCG industry experience an advantage.
* Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
