7.30am-4pm Monday to Friday (with flexibility to take on overtime, including the odd weekend)

We are looking for a career driven and self-motivated Manufacturing professional with a proven track record in driving efficiencies, problem solving and developing a team to adopt high standards and lean processes to join our client, a forward thinking business with state of the art facilities in South Kent, to lead an Assembly Team of between 6 and 12 at any one time.
The Assembly Manager is an integral role, which requires a technically minded Engineering specialist with a background in a relevant field servicing the Construction industry – sheet metal fabrication would be ideal. The role involves extensive collaboration with other team managers internally, as well as strong leadership of subcontractors.
This brand new, exclusive Assembly Manager role will consist of a varied workload including:
• Full responsibility for the accurate and timely assembly of a the product, ensuring technical drawings are understood and all quality standards are adhered to
• Overseeing all elements of assembly with a focus on pro-actively overcoming any obstacles and maintaining the highest standard of finished product
• Final quality checks before signing off to the next team
• Managing Health and Safety processes for the Assembly team end to end, including dealing with any training/development and processes that need to be implemented or improved
• Effective trouble shooting, using solutions led approach
• Empowering and leading the team to deal with problems effectively and efficiently and offering an internal point of escalation
• Management of sub-contractors, including reorganisation of resources where necessary
• Continuous improvement, through effective test and inspection throughout production process as well as analysis, reporting and collaboration with SMT
• Responsibility for maintenance of the Assembly and Production areas, ensuring an organised, clean and safe working environment, as well as maintenance and timely repair of equipment as necessary, reducing any downtime
• Providing regular reports to the SMT, with an interest in working collaboratively to identify appropriate solutions
This role would suit a manager from a Manufacturing or Production environment who has/is:
• An Engineering or Technical qualification demonstrating proficiency, and relevant management experience (such as being able to exemplify leading an improvement in punctuality and attendance)
• The ability to read schematic drawings (essential)
• A solid CV demonstrating honesty, loyalty and reliability
• The ability to demonstrate improvements identified and implemented throughout career
• High standards and organisational skills with a logical and methodical approach but the ability to adapt and be flexible as necessary
• A ‘hands on’ mentality, and a good attitude; happy to get involved with the manual duties where necessary as well as offer strategic leadership to the team
• Confident in their abilities with first rate interpersonal skills
• Proactive, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to spot issues before and as they occur
• Calm under pressure with a positive and resourceful approach to resolving issues
• Excellent grasp of the English language, both written and verbal, and the ability to assimilate technical information and articulate in a simple way
• The ability to work independently to common goals
• Experience negotiating challenging personalities internally and externally where necessary, ensuring the best commercial outcome
• Good IT skills with the ability to effectively use MS Office applications as well as pick up bespoke sector specific systems
• Previous delivery of MMC projects would be a distinct advantage
• Experience creating technical blueprints using CAD or similar would be an advantage
