Our client who specialise in education is seeking a Business Systems Analyst/Developer, to work as part of the team that supports and develops the student records systems and associated data exchanges with other business. You will develop web and other interfaces which help students, staff, and external users to securely access and maintain data in order to improve the student and staff experience. The role will require a basic DBS criminal records check (Disclosure & Barring Service.

About the role

* To be a technical expert taking responsibility for developing and delivering services related to the business applications
* Carry out project work on the business applications and bespoke modules, including work planning, analysis, designing robust solutions, advising clients, consultation with team members, solving problems
* Ensure the production of reliable, accurate management information from administrative systems, to enable managers to inform their decisions on a regular and ad hoc basis
* Train and support users of the services, both verbally and via documentation, to ensure they fully understand the capabilities and limitations of the systems, and the consequences of alternative actions when using them
* To undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as agreed with the Lead Analyst/Developer

About you

* Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery
* Ability to work as part of a team, contributing to discussions, valuing the contributions of others and sharing knowledge to improve resilience
* Ability to self-manage work, time, and learning from appropriate resources, raising any issues promptly to line manager
* Interpersonal skills necessary to sustain effective working relationships with colleagues across the university, suppliers, and external bodies
* Thorough understanding of data protection principles and practices
* Significant hands-on experience in software systems development, preferably in an educational context
