Customs Broker
Location: Dartford
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000

My client, a well-established business based in Dartford are looking for a Customs Broker to join their team. This role is fully office based and will require somebody with meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of import and export laws and regulations.



Duties:

* Liaising with Customers
* Calculating and processing duties and taxes to be paid and may be required to sign documents under a Power of Attorney on behalf of clients. You will also pay or arrange for payment of taxes and duties.
* Entering details onto specialised customs software
* Allocating the correct licence depending on type of goods being imported.
* Required to be fully conversant with import and export laws and regulations and expected to maintain your understanding and keep up to date with changes as they occur, to be able to advise customers on import and export restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements and all other customs related matters.
* Required to prepare the necessary import documentation such as certificates of origin and cargo control documents.
* Required you to liaise with officials in various agencies to ensure goods are cleared through customs or quarantine. Liaise with our Freight Forwarders throughout the UK to advise when goods are cleared for import/export so that they can arrange for transportation, warehousing or product distribution of imported or exported goods.
* Assisting with the onboarding of new clients, in addition to those already handled by team, ensuring smooth transition to our service
* Provide support to UK Operational Teams to realise their objectives
* Accurately update any key milestones that maybe required by our clients via our internal systems
* Process customs declarations through software in accordance with the customers instructions
* Understanding of company Compliance Programme
