Your new role

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who will play a lead role in developing and growing our local Highway Design capabilities to successfully deliver our exciting forward programme of Infrastructure Projects.



* You will be responsible for an element of business unit performance e.g., sales targets, customer service levels, leading and/or supporting on business development activities and key account management ownership.
* You must succeed in the continued development of the Highways Design workload of the business supported by the SE Portfolio Director and the Bid Manager.
* Section sustainability and growth of not only your team, but the wider portfolio offering across Highways, Structures, Rail and Project Management will be key.
* Engaging with and developing good working relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including Network Rail / local authorities / Tier 1 contractor's clients and other disciplines
* Assist in the development of links with other areas of the Capita business to maximise Highway Engineering opportunities.
* You will liaise with clients to ensure projects are delivered in the most timely and efficient manner possible.


What you'll need to succeed


* A degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent with over 5 years' experience in a leading design role or HNC with over 10 years' experience in a leading design role.
* Have as a minimum ICE Incorporated Engineer status (IEng) or be committed to achieving this within 18 months of appointment. Ideally, the candidate would be Chartered Status through ICE or CIHT.
* Have an excellent working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contract development and administration/delivery.
* Be experienced in working with Developers and Local/Water Authorities on Highway/Drainage adoption and approval processes.
* Carry out the Project Management role to lead on the successful delivery of a range of projects. This will include responsibility for programming (using Microsoft Project and/or P6), resource management and team building.
* Be flexible to work across the full range of Civils Design areas and adopt an integrated approach with our Operations colleagues through Early Contractor Involvement during design and working together during the site works.
