Our studio is situated in a river-front building in the heart of the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent, UK. We are growing fast, developing our games using cutting-edge technology and delivering these on multiple platforms: PC, PlayStation 4 and 5 and Xbox One and Series S/X

We are looking for a Technical Director to lead, support and mentor the Studio's Lead and Senior Programmers, help overcome technical issues, drive and support best practices and efficiency's across our games, and set clear guidelines/expectations for the studio's games and services.

Responsibilities

* The quality of technical deliverables for all studio UE4 titles
* Shaping and driving the future technical road map and requirements for the studio
* Leading, coaching and mentoring engineers throughout the studio
* Approving technical designs for all high-risk/high-impact systems across the studio's development teams
* Driving the overall engineering culture at the studio, including internal and external talks and engagement
* Setting and enforcing software development standards and best practices across all engineering teams
* Working with the development teams to optimise, fix and establish excellent codebases throughout the studio.
* Overseeing the technical requirements of first-party submission processes
* Working with content and engineering teams to help optimise our titles and achieve performance
* Working closely with project leads to define the title's technical requirements, constraints, risks and opportunities - including all technical architecture and production process
* Working with leadership of the team to define and manage change
* Facilitating the sharing of technical knowledge and learning's across the studio's development teams, looking for opportunities to re-use solutions and processes across
* Identify and manage technical dependencies and risks for the studio
* Stay abreast of global technology advancements, identify opportunities to progress at a technical and business level

What we look for in you

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
* You are an expert in game systems programming with excellent C++ and UE4 knowledge
* Several year's experience in the video game industry as a Lead Engineer or Technical Director
* Advanced knowledge of engine, graphics, multiplayer, game play, and tool development
* Shipped multiple games as a Senior or Lead Programmer with relevant experience on current and previous generation consoles.
* Experience with modern commercial games engines
* A strong ability to communicate technical subjects to other disciplines.
* A proven track record in building, managing and growing engineering teams capable of delivering AAA experiences across platforms.
* Intimate knowledge of technical considerations in delivering live services.
* Experience balancing technical, team, product and business requirements with successful outcomes.
