If you have experience of providing reception services, good IT skills and an interest in a student-facing role in Student Support and Wellbeing at the University of Kent, this part-time position at our Canterbury campus could be ideal for you.

Joining a committed and supportive team, you will put to use your well-developed customer service skills to welcome and receive enquiries via telephone and face to face. The role will also involve a range of clerical responsibilities to ensure the delivery of an efficient reception service for students and staff wishing to access advice and assistance from the team.

As Receptionist you will:

provide a reception service for Student Support, Wellbeing and Counselling and deal with enquiries in a sensible and approachable way
record student information pertaining to their interaction with the service
undertake general administrative duties to facilitate the smooth running of the department, including handling calls or emails from students in distress and escalating these promptly and calmly
To succeed in this role you will need:

GCSE grade A-C (9-4) English and Maths or equivalent
IT training including Word, Outlook, Excel
previous experience of providing reception services in a similar environment
the ability to maintain confidentiality and to remain calm and deal with enquiries sensitively
This position is part time, 14 hours per week, to be worked on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Student Support and Wellbeing provides assistance to those students who need extra support to enable them to manage their own educational and personal progression. We are committed to improving access to learning and provide a wide range of support to our students. The Service employs a number of specialist staff to support students, including: Disability Advisers; Specific Learning Difficulties Advisers; Wellbeing Advisers; Counsellors; International Student Adviser; Specialist Tutors, Mentors and Educational Support Assistants.
