Are you a digital comms expert with an eye for stories that get great pick-up across social media? Do you have a track record in the day-to-day management of social media accounts, driving reach and engagement across a range of platforms?

We’re looking for a stand-out Social Media Manager who can lead our approach to social media, curating an effective schedule of compelling content that balances and integrates a range of Comms and Marketing campaigns. You will join the Communications Team, working closely with colleagues across the University to ensure we have a reactive and responsive presence on social media that drives brand awareness and student recruitment, with consistency in tone and quality across our accounts.

The role will lead our activity in this area, taking an innovative and proactive approach to social media throughout while working closely with key areas to enhance and support strategic priorities.

As Social Media Manager you will:

identify, develop and commission compelling digital content to promote the University across our channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and TikTok;
be the University’s lead contact for social media, managing our day-to-day social media presence and providing best-practice guidance and training support;
have oversight of our reputation management across social media, establishing frameworks and processes to ensure we monitor and respond to issues effectively across the team;
work collaboratively with colleagues across the University to coordinate campaign activity, ensuring this is fully integrated and planned around key moments in the year.

To be successful in this role you will have:

a strong understanding of the algorithms and metrics that drive different platforms and the types of content that best suits them;
excellent digital and written communication skills, with the ability to work at pace and produce content that has real impact;
natural interpersonal and influencing skills, helping you build networks and relationships across the University that support an integrated approach to communications throughout.

The Communications Team strive to build the University's reputation through multi-channel, mixed media campaigns that set out a compelling narrative based on our Kent 2025 strategy. Working across press, social media and internal comms, the team lead on communications with key local, national and international audiences, ensuring clear and consistent messages are delivered in creative and dynamic ways to help make the University stand out in a crowded market.
