Project and Communications Officer

f you have excellent organisational and planning skills and you are looking for an exciting and rewarding new challenge, this role in the Student Administration team could be just right for you.

You will lead on identifying areas in need of review and enhancement, leading and delivering projects that aim to meet these challenges. The role will involve development work where the post-holder is expected to develop, construct and deliver enhancement activities to help the Central Student Administration Office (CSAO) evolve in response to user needs and expectations.

In addition to general project management and business process development, you will have special responsibility for project and office communications, liaising with a wide variety of stakeholders. You will work in conjunction with the Data Quality and Operations managers, the Medway Student Administration Manager and the Head of Student Administration as well as the Divisions and central services across the University. This role is being offered on a full time, ongoing basis.

As Project and Communications Officer, you will:

lead in planning and delivering a successful arrivals event for new students
project lead and deliver on new projects by creating, maintaining and monitoring project plans, risks, KPIs and lessons for each project
establish user knowledge and expertise in existing processes and tools and work with the entire CSAO Team
manage and co-ordinate the examinations for students who require adapted arrangements

To be successful in this role you will have:

GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent and a good first degree or equivalent professional experience
experience of working in a Higher or Further Education Institution
experience of updating and maintaining websites or related skills which would allow the development of this skill with minimal training
excellent IT skills, particularly MS Office packages – Excel, Access, MS Project
These activities require a high attention to detail with the ability to prioritise conflicting demands whilst maintaining precision in meeting rigorous deadlines. The Central Student Admin Office is responsible for maintaining and updating critical student information and managing large scale central student operations, including registration, module registration and examinations.
