Contract: Permanent
Hours: 22.5 hours (3 days) per week / Term time only
Start date: February / March 2021

The University of Kent Academies Trust is seeking to recruit an experienced, proactive Speech and Language Therapist for Brompton Academy and Chatham Grammar. A newly qualified practitioner would be considered for the role if they were the right candidate. We can offer on-site supervision and support through the preceptorship from the senior SLT. The role involves working within our team to deliver a specialist integrated speech, language and communication service to secondary aged SEND students. The SLT would work jointly with and be supported by the senior SLT/Therapy lead. This is a flexible, part-time role, 3 days per week, term time only.

The role of the SLT is vital for a significant number of our students, particularly for those students with EHCPs and/or underlying SLCN in mainstream and our specialist provision. Working with the Therapy lead, you will have the opportunity to develop special areas of interest in SLCN and will be supported to access suitable CPD.

You will need to be confident, resilient, approachable and a good communicator as you will be required to liaise with students, staff, parents/carers and outside agencies. The opportunity for regular supervision will be available to support you in your role and development.

We are looking for a vibrant and energetic individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of our students and wants to be a part of our team.

The successful candidate will be expected to work with students from upper Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 5, and to support and provide training to empower our staff to integrate specialist interventions and techniques into the classroom.

The successful applicant will be coming to a multi-academy trust wide supportive learning environment, characterised by open management, and in the knowledge that they will enjoy the full support and care of the pragmatic (and down to earth) leadership team. We have a dynamic, innovative team of professional staff who want to make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people.
