Kent’s Education and Young People’s Services requires 9 Mainstream Schools SEND Provision Evaluation Officers to provide specialist expertise to enable the monitoring, evaluation and development of special educational needs provision in mainstream schools.

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a team with special educational needs staff in a range of educational establishments and from other KCC services as well as colleagues from health and social care. The post holders will work across one or more districts within the North, East, South or West Kent areas. The districts we are now looking for PEOs to work in are listed above.

You will monitor and evaluate the special educational needs provision for individual children or young people with an Education Health and Care Plan, receiving SEN Support in mainstream schools or identified as having SEN, working collaboratively with parents and carers, children and young people, schools and other stakeholders.

You will also monitor, evaluate and provide guidance to support schools to further develop their special educational needs provision at a whole school level

You will have Qualified Teacher Status as well as successful completion of the National Award for SEN Coordination or other relevant Post Graduate qualification in SEN as the required minimum qualifications. You should demonstrate your experience of class teaching and SENCo- ordination in at least one school. In addition, you will have experience of working collaboratively, supporting other schools in developing their capacity to meet the needs of SEN pupils. These are the required minimum qualifications and experience necessary. The team work all year round and this post is not on Teachers Pay and Conditions.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
