Occupational Health & Wellbeing Adviser

£34,804 to £40,322 per annum pro rata plus £5000 Market supplement

The University of Kent is seeking to recruit an experienced and exceptional Occupational Health & Wellbeing Adviser to join us in delivering high quality occupational health services to a wide range of employees across all levels of the university.

This role requires you to have the knowledge and capability to undertake the main functions of this role, including case management, health surveillance, health screening, ergonomic advice and training.

The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to working to accommodate the needs of the team and available resources.

As an Occupational Health & Wellbeing Adviser you will:

Provide Occupational Health specialist advice on the interaction between work and health to managers, employees and HR
Undertake OH Case Management work in response to Management Referrals and Self-Referrals
Undertake all elements of standard OH surveillance and vocational screening e.g. spirometry, audiometry, vision, skin, pre-employment questionnaires and maternity/new mother risk assessments
Record and maintain all information and notes on cases using the University’s electronic systems
Provide safe and accurate advice on health and wellbeing topics
To succeed in this role you will have:

Active registration to practice as a Registered General Nurse with the NMC
A post registration qualification in occupational health nursing - Specialist practitioner status with the Nursing and Midwifery Council registration is particularly desirable.
Experience and competency in carrying out OH Case Management and experience and competency in carrying our Occupational Health Surveillance and Screening activities.
Technical ability with health surveillance equipment
The Safety, Health and Environment Unit is dedicated to assisting the University to undertake its activities in a manner that is safe, healthy and environmentally sustainable. The Unit seeks to create a strong and supportive safety and environmental culture by encouraging, enabling, engaging and exemplifying appropriate behaviours. It is a major contributor to the wellbeing of staff, students and guests of the University and to the creation of a positive working environment.

The Occupational Health function is well established, respected and valued at the University for the advice it provides to the organisation on the relationship between work and health.

The small clinical team provides support to the whole staff population, which comprises a headcount of between 4000-5000 individuals.
