Ashford, Kent

Ashford Borough Council

Ashford Borough Council is not just any local authority. We think commercially, we are entrepreneurial, we think creatively and do things differently.

The Corporate Property and Projects team is driving forward this agenda not just within the council and borough, but countywide and organisations from further afield are taking note of the innovative approach we have adopted.

The council is actively looking at the management of land, securing and maintaining important assets and enabling the delivery of major regeneration projects in the borough. By doing so it is making Ashford a vibrant and thriving borough, as well as securing new funding streams to enable us to enhance our services and manage funding reductions from government. Ashford Borough Council is committed to reducing its environmental impact and has an objective in becoming carbon neutral.

The role will encompass general property related maintenance & repairs issues and responsible for corporate energy use looking at innovative technical solutions within a responsible financial framework.

The scope of work will generally range from maintenance and repairs primarily at the Civic sites; identifying defects and arranging for remedial works as required; ensuring compliance with legionella, asbestos management, fire risk assessments, electrical testing and other relevant regulatory legislation; corporate energy use in relation to building works both planned and reactive.

Applicants will have experience in understanding small projects and organising maintenance works, working with and checking contractors, and an understanding of effective energy management. The role will entail considerable focus on Renewable energy solutions and energy monitoring across the corporate property portfolio, both within Ashford Borough Council operated buildings, and those operated by tenants/partners.
