CATS Canterbury is an independent international college catering for approximately 500 students from age 14 upwards and staff, three times a day, seven days a week. The role is a permanent position, 40 hours, a week with every other weekend off
The position is Assistant to the Chef in charge of a shift, who in turn is answerable to the Head Chef, and will be required to deputise in their absence. The post holder will be expected to produce good quality food to an agreed standard that fulfils the needs of the students and staff, as a balanced diet in accordance with Government legislation (Food Policy in Schools).

You will be assisting the Head Chef with the production of the daily menu and the day to day running of the kitchen ensuring that the five star rating is maintained with the food standards agency. Assist with the training and guidance of kitchen staff. Maintain good stock levels, that are rotated correctly and that deliveries are correctly stored.
Ideally you will have large scale food production experience, be comfortable in a very busy , demanding environment, be able to cope with the unexpected and in times of adversity, be conscientious, patient with customers and have the relevant Catering qualifications, City and Guilds 706/1 and 2 or the equivalent.

A knowledge and experience of cooking many types of cuisine and diets would be an advantage, with an eye for presentation and a good palate is essential. Excellent customer service skills are vital. You will need to work in an orderly manner, be time aware and work as part of a team and be able to manage a team.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, a positive thinker, have good attention to detail, be student focused in their approach.

We are offering £18,504 p/a and we would envisage the position would be starting in November 2019. We will be interviewing as soon as applications come in.

The role would be subject to satisfactory references, visa if required and a satisfactory DBS check
