The School of Biosciences is looking to appoint a Programmes Administrator with excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle issues of great sensitivity with complete confidentiality.



You will provide a broad range of administrative support for students and academic staff to ensure an excellent student experience and a smooth learning and teaching environment, supervising the workload for the small team, which supports students, and staff in the School.



This role will require you to work closely with the Director of Education and colleagues in Central Student Administration Office, the Faculties Support Office, the Timetabling Office and the Visa Compliance Office and International Partnerships.



As Programmes Administrator you will:



Oversee administration for all programmes of study, and short term students, including processing programme, module and group changes, co-ordinating online module registration, administering final year projects, and allocating Academic Advisers to students and arranging tutorial sessions for academic staff and students.
Co-ordinate and plan for assessment deadlines, liaising closely with DoE and module convenors, co-ordinating student submissions (in person or electronically), staff marking (arranging printing) and reporting progress against University targets relating to marking return rates.
Liaise with Faculties Support Office (FSO), Central Student Administration Office (CSAO) and the Graduate School, as needed to ensure programmes are administered according to University requirements and regulations, and work to resolve any non-standard queries that arise.
Contribute to the Applicant Days and University Open Days, and other School events. This may include occasional evening and weekend work.


To be successful in this role you will have:



GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above or equivalent qualification
Experience of working in a student or customer facing role
Experience of working in a busy office environment with competing demands and priorities
Experience of taking minutes or notes at meetings
Commitment to high standards of student satisfaction


The School of Biosciences is a part of the University’s Faculty of Science, and teaches undergraduate degree programmes in Biochemistry, Biology and Biomedical Sciences. Research projects are also undertaken in the same disciplines. The laboratory research interests of the School include:
