Analyst Programmer (KMMS)

The Student Systems Development Team is seeking an enthusiastic person to join their diversely skilled team at the University of Kent. We are particularly interested if you are a problem solver, with strong learning agility, who is looking for a role that offers both technical challenges and input from requirements gathering, to design and development.

The role will develop key enhancements to student record systems to enable Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) student administration within existing systems. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to become a subject matter expert in relevant business areas and systems, as well as benefit from industry training opportunities.

As a team we work with both an in-house bespoke student data system (built on Ingres and PHP) and also Tribal SITS & e:vision, an off-the-shelf product. This role is well suited to you if you have experience as a database applications developer (preferably in Ingres or Transact SQL), web developer (including PHP, JavaScript, and CSS), integrations and reports (SSIS and SSRS).

As Analyst Programmer (KMMS) you will:

- develop, maintain and provide support for student lifecycle systems
- determine user requirements for new system requests
- provide day-to-day support to system users
- help to plan future services

To be successful in this role you will need:

- to be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience
- demonstrable knowledge of relational database systems, web programming and good development practices
- excellent communication skills with an ability to build relationships and document work on both a technical level and for user consumption

You will be based in the University of Kent Information Services department, working closely with the KMMS project team responsible for analysing and understanding requirements, then developing and implementing IT services to support the School.

The School will attract the most talented aspiring doctors from within the local community and beyond, offering training and development opportunities that will help to keep that talent in Kent and Medway.
