Overview of the position:
As the leading supplier to the HM Prison Service for the provision of maintenance trades & support operatives, Hays is seeking to recruit multiple qualified trades, including a Maintenance Supervisor for the Prisons in Eastchurch, Kent.


There is an option to be paid via an Umbrella Company or a PAYE Option.


Purpose of the Maintenance role:
As part of the Works Department your role will be to manage a team of Operatives to ensure compliance and professional, cost effective service delivery is maintained. Along with this you will act as an interface between the Operative team and the client and to report issues arising to Line Manager.


A Key part of this role will be focusing on the Compliance and Risk Assessment within the Prison. Driving remedial works through and Good site compliance knowledge. Ideally you will have an Electrical background ideally as a qualified Trade. Previous experience in Electrical planned maintenance would be ideal.


You will be accountable for the following as part of your role;


Responsible for Service Delivery of Operative Team
Assist with the recruitment and supervision of staff
Produce rotas for the operative team
Proactive reporting of all Health and Safety issues
To manage the issue and upkeep of PPE to the team.
To manage stock levels and equipment
To conduct job chats with the operative team to identify training requirements.
Assist in the preparation of the payroll Liaise with the client to ensure customer satisfaction with the service provided

You must be local to the prison or have your own transport.


Experience:
The prison is looking for Maintenance Supervisors. Previous experience in a prison/ public sector is not required for this role. The nature of the role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Full training on working within a prison is provided by the establishment/ department.


Security Clearance required:
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 4 weeks, this can include a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & Photo Driving Licence in your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
