The KEG Project and Fundraising Officer is a self-funded position responsible for the day to day operation and running of the gardens to provide a sustainable facility for outdoor education in an accessible multi-use space to promote healthy food and wellbeing, enhancing the student and beneficiary experience in a safe learning environment to help them achieve employment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1. Project Management, Marketing, Communications, IT and Fundraising

a. Contribute to the Strategic Plan, Procedural Guides, Statements and Project proposals by planning sessions to meet the varied and specific needs of individuals with outcome measures and objectives to meet all stakeholder requirements.
b. Raise the profile of the community gardens through excellent marketing and communications, including building upon our mailing list and being the point of contact.
c. Plan and deliver project objectives and events on time, within budget and to excellent service standards, negotiating the best possible terms and discounts with suppliers and contractors, maintaining good working relationships with all stakeholders.
d. Maintain excellent records for reporting quantitative and qualitative data quarterly to the board, management committee and funders to measure the success of the project.

2. Health and Safety, buildings, equipment, facilities and security

a. Ensure all activities meet government regulations, health and safety, fire precaution and prevention as the competent person for the site. Conducting and reviewing risk assessments as required and inline with Risk Management Policy.
b. Ensure that the internal and external fabric of the garden structures, equipment and machinery is maintained in good repair and properly maintained. Providing excellent induction training on all tools and equipment with PPE where necessary.
c. Adhere to Safeguarding and Data Protection policies and report any concerns using the correct procedure.

3. Training and Mentoring

a. Recruit, instruct and assist beneficiaries, students and volunteers to maintain the community gardens, growing produce to sell and reporting on social impact.
b. Plan the development of training programmes/sessions to improve the outcomes for beneficiaries, being aware of a wide variety of needs and signposting or bringing in experts where possible, within budget.
c. Work with volunteers, partners and funders to design and deliver engaging activities to address the needs of beneficiaries to deliver on charitable mission.

4. Other

a. Participate in training and personal development opportunities relevant to the role.
b. Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998, especially as regards any personal or commercial information and compliance with Equal Opportunities legislation at all times by promoting positive Equality and Diversity activities and messages.
c. Integrate with Kent Enterprise House based staff, facilitating their visits to the garden and training them to cover for your absence. Be prepared to work in the office to cover for their absence when required, attending team meetings, partnership meetings and away days, taking minutes and preparing agendas as appropriate.
d. Undertake any other activities as requested by the Chief Executive.

• Degree or Level 5 Apprenticeship

• Organic horticulture or permaculture
• Experience delivering funded projects to budget and targets
