Nikwax, a leading international manufacturer of waterproofing products for clothing, footwear and outdoor equipment, requires a Product Compliance Manager to join our Product Management & Operations team in Wadhurst, East Sussex.
The Role
As the Product Compliance Manager you will lead and manage the product compliance team and be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance for Nikwax products on a worldwide basis. Key areas of responsibility will include:
• Initially reviewing the product compliance team structure against business needs, determining the required job roles and recruiting additional team members as appropriate
• Designing and implementing documented procedures that ensure the compliance of Nikwax products with local, regional and international legislation on chemical classification, labelling and packaging
• Gathering, documenting and maintaining product relevant regulatory information
• Ensuring all relevant translations are conducted and validated to local requirements
• Liaising with and preparing submissions for regulatory authorities
• Ensuring Nikwax Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and Ingredient Data Sheets are compliant
• Providing clear communication of Nikwax product regulatory requirements for other teams
The Person
You will have experience in some or all of the following: GHS chemical classification, Detergent Regulations, determination of consumer label content, SDS authoring and REACH. Experience dealing with relevant regulatory bodies would also be highly beneficial.
The successful candidate will ideally have a degree in Chemistry, or a relevant subject, or have a background with demonstrable experience of management of chemical product regulatory compliance. The role may suit an experienced compliance manager or someone who has worked in the regulatory team for a chemicals manufacturer or a chemical regulatory consultancy and is seeking a management role.
Previous knowledge of managing products to the legislative requirements in countries outside the EU, such as the USA, Canada, Australia, South Korea and Japan, would be an advantage.
You will be a responsible, meticulous individual, organised with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), highly proactive with the ability to work under your own initiative. Experience of building and managing teams would be beneficial. Fluency in a second language is highly desirable.
